Belize Trip #1

- by Pastor Al & Anita Kehler

We arrived in Belize City in the late afternoon on March 25th, where Pastor Diedrich & Tina Dyck were waiting for us.  After about 2 ½ hours driving we arrived at Abe & Sylvia Dyck, who were kind enough to host us once again.  We unloaded our luggage and went on to Diedrich Dyck’s for supper.  Since then we have been at quite a few homes in the Blue Creek area as well as at Shipyard.  We Praise the Lord for the good hospitality they always show and are pleased to be among the many friends that we have made over the years.

We are grateful for the vehicle that George Dycks (Blue Creek) have loaned us during our stay in this area, so we can zip back and forth from Blue Creek and Shipyard as needed.  The roads have improved a lot since our last visit so it is considered a ½ hour ride by now.  Today the Shipyard School children, together with their teachers and many parents, took a 16 mile bike trip towards Blue Creek to raise funds for the school.  A few walked the distance and some parents followed on vehicles to pick up weary travelers if needed.  The Redekopp family just walked in the door and it looks like they got a little bit of sunburn and are very tired, but excited about their endurance test on their bikes and the funds that they were able to raise.  What started out as a school project turned out to be a family day.  Congratulations to the teachers, students, and parents!

March 1st was a very meaningful day.  We met for an Ordination Interview with Pastor Blaine & Melissa Dueck in the morning and with Pastor Henry & Tina Redekopp in the afternoon.  God has blessed us with two dedicated couples to join the rest of the Ministerial Team in Region 5B.  The Ordination for the Duecks is planned for Sunday, March 7th in Blue Creek, and for the Redekopps on Friday, March 12th in Shipyard.

Right now we are staying at the home of Henry & Tina Redekopp, and tomorrow we will be making our way back to Blue Creek again for a few days.  We are enjoying the many friends we have made over the years and are getting to know new people as we move around in our visiting, teaching, preaching, meetings, etc.

I will allow the pictures to tell the rest of the story, but would appreciate your prayers. Pray that we will be sensitive to the needs of the people yet bold as we hold forth the word of God.

Thank you for partnering with us in the Kingdom work,

Anita
