The Vauxhall Mennonite Gospel Church did an excellent job of hosting the all-day Southern Alberta’s Ladies Rally on March 16. This annual event presently rotates between the MGC, Taber EMC*, and the Picture Butte EMC, but women from many other churches attend. The sanctuary was turned into a beautifully decorated Conference Room with seating capacity of 221 which filled up quickly. What a wonderful community event it turned out to be.
There was excitement in the air as ladies began to line up for the 8:30am registration followed by coffee and muffins and fellowship. Thank you to the ladies who served food all day with coffee breaks and a delicious lunch.
Helen Dyck began the morning session with a warm welcome which was followed by some worship in song lead by the MGC Ladies. Door prizes where given out throughout the day to keep up the suspense and excitement. We were favored by testimonies from Helen Neufeld and Nancy Fehr, and special numbers by the Picture Butte EMC Ladies as well as the Taber EMC Ladies.
Guest Speak was Deb Elkink, from Elkwater, Alberta. Deb had a wonderful way of weaving her personal testimony and life stories into the topic of “What’s Eating You?” (Book of Jonah), and bathing it with prayer. She talked about how God worked in Jonah’s life with “the Wind of Discipline, Whale of deliverance, Weed of Delight, Worm/wind of discomfort”. She then challenged us all to examine our own lives. Her key word was “God prepared”. She used the Key Verse (Jonah 2:9) “Salvation is of the Lord” and her Theme was “Our gracious, loving, sovereign God reaches out to save the lost; we can join Him in His plan for us or face the consequences of rejecting it”.
What a privilege it was to fellowship with the many women from different churches and to see how the Mennonite Gospel Church hosted “As unto the Lord”.
