The Antioch Church plant and indoor skatepark journey has been predictably - unpredictable. We repeatedly seem to find ourselves at an impasse. Although it has been stressful and takes a little longer than desired, God faithfully has provided a way each time.

We were unable to open the skatepark this past winter, which slowed business and momentum. Coupled with a few donations not panning out as anticipated, we find ourselves at another possible impasse. We still owe our general contractor $70,000 to $80,000, who has patiently waited as we continue moving forward.

A bit like the paralytic in Mark chapter 2, Antioch needs friends with faith to lift us up in order to get to Jesus, to get off the mat and get walking. It was their faith that Christ responded to and in that Antioch needs all the help it can get.

However, this financial strain has not overshadowed God’s undeniable presence in our space. Folks often comment that the skatepark feels “magical,” or that they can tangibly sense God filling our sanctuary.

We have between 40 and 60 committed people coming to The Church at Antioch each week. It’s a younger crew which is steadily growing as a body, discovering what God has for us corporately and individually. There is momentum and excitement. Its uplifting and challenging. It’s exactly as it should be, and I am so thankful for it.

There is a mountain to climb ahead of us, but God is doing something special. Would you pray for Antioch? Would you consider contributing to the financial needs of this unique ministry? There is no doubt that with your faith and generosity we will meet our immediate financial needs as well as grow into the powerful space of worship, community, and recreation that God is intending it to be.
