The Barnabas Bursary is intended to support individuals pursuing ministry training at Steinbach Bible College who have been identified by their churches as emerging or future pastoral leaders. It is not designed as professional development funding for individuals currently serving as pastors. Recipients are typically mature students who demonstrate pastoral gifting and have received a clear affirmation of their calling from their congregation.

Steinbach Bible College has invited the Evangelical Mennonite Mission Conference (EMMC), Evangelical Mennonite Conference (EMC), and Christian Mennonite Conference (CMC) to partner in this initiative. Each conference may nominate one recipient per academic year.

The cost of tuition is shared equally among the EMMC, Steinbach Bible College, and the recipient's home congregation, with each contributing one-third of the total tuition. Following consultation with prospective students and their churches, the conference will select its annual nominee.

Recipients are expected to demonstrate a strong sense of calling and purpose throughout their studies and to commit to serving their home congregation for a minimum of two years after graduation. Funding remains available until graduation, or for a maximum of five years, whichever comes first. To remain eligible, students must be enrolled in at least two courses per semester.
