Twelve years ago (or perhaps a bit more), Lil Goertzen and I sat at my kitchen table, where we spent time discussing the publication she was working on. Although the timing wasn’t right for my involvement then, that conversation became the beginning of a memorable connection that has remained with me over the years.

My path has taken me through several seasons of life. After completing the three-year graphic design program at Red River College, I went on to work for a graphic design firm for more than five years. While I enjoyed that period of creative work, I eventually made the decision to step away from my career and focus on what mattered most to me at the time: becoming a full-time stay-at-home mom.

Creativity has always been woven into who I am. As a self-taught metalsmith and leathercrafter, I love working with my hands and creating meaningful pieces from raw materials. There is something deeply satisfying about turning an idea into something tangible and beautiful. Alongside raising our family, I have also helped co-run my husband’s tile installation business, supporting the day-to-day operations and contributing wherever needed. Community involvement has always been important to me as well. Today, I serve on the Morrow Gospel Church Council and am grateful for the opportunity to be part of our Sunday morning worship team, where I enjoy sharing my love of music through singing.

Family remains at the center of my life. In August, my husband Duane and I celebrated 22 years of marriage, a milestone that reflects many years of partnership, faith, and commitment. Together, we are raising four children whose ages range from 9 to 18, and they continue to bring energy, joy, and purpose to our lives every day.

In 2025 we made the decision to move to our rural slice of forest, and on the eve of the new school year we packed our bags and left Winnipeg for the Anola area. City Mouse became Country Mouse! Life is busy, full, and constantly changing, but I am grateful for each chapter of the journey and for the many ways God has guided our family along the way.

I look forward to the challenges and excitement that this role offers. My desire is to serve by using my talents and abilities to honour God.
