After noticing seven missed calls from Greg Nelson, I wondered if there was a Chevy truck that he wanted me to buy. I gave him a ring and realized that my previous assumptions were wrong. Greg mentioned that Sutherland Evangelical Church had a ministry position opening up, and he thought that I would be the right candidate. I excitedly applied for the position that same day. After consistent prayer, mentoring and an interview, I received the position and assumed my role as youth pastor on December 1.

My name is Josh Agent, and I am excited to introduce myself as the Youth Pastor at Sutherland Evangelical Church. Many of you have seen me and Alison (my girlfriend) around the church for the last month, but many of you have not had the opportunity to hear about how the Lord brought me into a loving relationship with Him. Below is a brief testimony of how the Lord used my youth group to draw me back to Himself.

I was born into a loving Christian family. I attended church and Sunday School at the Evangelical Free Church of Saskatoon. At the age of five, I dedicated my life to the Lord, putting my faith in Jesus Christ. As I grew up, I slowly began to fall into a bad crowd of friends at my public school. I was falling away from the faith I grew up in and became ashamed of my past as a Christian. However, when I began attending youth groups and Bible quizzing, the Lord put friends and mentors in my life that steered me back towards Him. As I entered high school, I rededicated my life to the Lord. I began to read my Bible again and put away the sins of my past. I realized during this time that Jesus died on the cross, and that he rose again three days later. Conquering fear and death and bringing forgiveness of sins to all that have faith and accept His free gift of salvation.

After I finished my grade twelve year, I applied to and got accepted into Millar College of the Bible. This is where my faith began to skyrocket, as I dove deep into the Word of God. I saw the importance of evangelism and discipleship within believers, and the Lord grew me in these areas. I was baptized the summer after my first year of college and saw a need to continue in my understanding of the Bible. I continued my education at Millar for a second and third year where I was appointed to be a hall leader, giving me opportunities to grow in my leadership and discipleship skills. I graduated from Millar in the spring of 2024 with a Bachelor of Biblical Studies.

This last year I have been looking for opportunities to serve God in Saskatoon. I attended Massey Place Community Church, where I served as a youth leader. I have also been serving at Cornerstone Alliance Church in their Bible quizzing program, as a quiz coach. These serving opportunities have grown my love for youth and ultimately led me to accepting this youth pastor position. I am excited to get to know all of you as the Lord uses me to serve the youth in this congregation.
