Papua New Guinea – The shell book “How the Jews Lived” has now been sent to the printer at Ukarumpa, Papua New Guinea. We are praying that this book on the Customs and Culture of Bible times will help the people to better understand God’s Word. Our hope is that when they see the cross-references, they will be curious to go to the translated scriptures to read more.

What’s next? We will be working to update and reprint the dictionary. Many example sentences contain old spellings that need to be corrected, and overall entries need to be edited for consistency and conciseness, to make it easily usable for the Kwomtari people.

PNG here I come! April 1 to 30

I (Carol) will be going on my own, as Murray needs to stay on track with his cardiac rehab program. Looking ahead to finishing our time in PNG, there are a number of translation/ language items to deal with. I will bring some things home to finish up here.

Last July we left PNG for a 3-week holiday in Australia, which changed into a trip home to Manitoba for Murray’s surgery. While in PNG, I will also be packing up our personal items to send home.

We plan to return together, in the fall for about 2 months. If possible, we’ll spend most of that time in the village, encouraging our friends and saying good-bye. We hope to celebrate the dedication with them. We have booked September 12-14 for the dedication of the Glefe Scripture portions.

Prayer & Praise
  • For Murray’s progress in healing after surgery and for increasing stamina. He joined a 16 week cardiac rehabilitation program and is doing well. Please pray for complete clearing of the ‘brain fog’, which is normal after open heart surgery. He is gradually resuming some language work.

  • For our children, who have been so supportive during Murray’s surgery and now in recovery. He’ll be well looked after in Carol’s absence.

  • For Carol as she travels to PNG, for safety, health, and a whole lot of energy. It will be a very busy month, with lots of decisions to be made. We are thankful for our friends, who will be helping with various tasks in the packing up process.

  • That Carol will be able to connect with our village coworkers to finalize details on their end, regarding the dedication.

  • For the meeting with aviation to talk about some of the logistics of the dedication planned for Sept 12-14.

  • For a meeting with the Scripture Use team to plan for future workshops.

  • For the whole printing process, both in Korea and in Ukarumpa — pray for jobs done well!
