Waiting on God’s Timing (WEC International)

Writer: Pete and Cathy DyckPete and Cathy Dyck

Be patient, therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it until it receives the early and the late rain. James 5:7

MEXICO – These past couple of months have been a time of waiting and learning patience in regards to ministry. This was a season of not seeing much happening in Corupo, and what we did see was not encouraging. However, we continue to trust that God is at work whether or not it is evident to us. We trust that sooner or later there will be a harvest of souls and that God will continue to build His Church in Corupo.

The situation with a couple in Chucho has been in turmoil to say the least. Addictions have played a major role in the breakdown of their relationship and family dynamics. Keeping connected with them was difficult. Things seemed to improve for a short time. But the reality of the hold the addiction has on the husband has allowed the situation to deteriorate further. Pray with us that they would experience freedom from the bonds of addictions and that Jesus would truly reign in their hearts and home.

Our children ChristyAnn and Josiah returned from Canada, so we were able to enjoy a short holiday at the coast. We also attended our annual WEC team conference in October.

Pete and Josiah started working at our property, building the wall surrounding the property, the first priority for security. Pete and Josiah had the opportunity to connect with two men when they went looking for building material.

Recently we had the chance to visit with friends whom we had not visited for a while. That same day two men motioned for Pete to go over to them; they wanted to know who he was, what he was doing etc. It turned out that one of them was the dad to one of the young ladies who attended the Bible study for a while. While we were at a parade a man approached Cathy asking about English classes. He said that he could get us a room in the government building for that purpose. It looks like God is confirming that she should teach English again, and her plan is to also give character-building “talks.” Pray that all these informal, often unplanned, contacts would bear fruit for eternity.

We invite you to pray with us, that we would have much wisdom as how to continue the ministry in Corupo.
