NIPAWIN, SK – In recent months we have been teaching through the Gospel of Luke and it his been so encouraging. In Luke 4, Jesus launches his public ministry by attending the Synagogue in Nazareth where he was brought up. Jesus reads from the prophet Isaiah chapter 61, where it describes some of what the promised Messiah will do when he arrives. Then Luke records in the following chapters, many stories of Jesus fulfilling this prophecy, proving that He is the Messiah. Healing the blind, releasing the oppressed, binding up the broken-hearted and so much more.

We too are still seeing this prophecy fulfilled in our day as Jesus continues his ministry among us and as we live in “the year of the Lord’s favor”. This amazing period of grace where people everywhere are extended the gift of grace and repentance. Let’s embrace this gift and share it.

In February Mandy and I and our co-worker Jonah Sawatzky, went to Ontario and began training with Caring for the Heart Ministries. Caring for the Heart Ministries Canada is a faith-based counselling office located in Southwestern Ontario. They seek to use biblical principles to guide couples and individuals in finding healing and freedom in their hearts, restore relationships, and give all glory to God.

We constantly meet many people in our ministry who have experienced a lot of trauma in their lives. We believe that God has the solution for every problem, and we can trust Him to heal and guide us through it all and experience His peace in our chaos.

God often surprises us with His blessings as we serve Him. Through our church, Open Arms Bible Fellowship, the outreach ministry in Nipawin continues to grow. We are continually amazed by the diverse group of people who gather each week to worship Jesus. Recently, several individuals we shared the Gospel with years ago have reached out to reconnect—what a beautiful reminder that God is always at work, even when we don’t see it right away.

Last week I sat down with a man from the Kinistin Reserve that I have known since he was about nine years old. It is amazing to me that God, once again opened a way to share His love with this man. It has been over thirty years since I met him. I am anticipating that God, who writes last chapters, is not finished yet in his life and so many others that we know. This is just one small example of God continuing to work in the lives of many.

Please talk to the Lord about the following on our behalf:

  • Pray our daughter Naiomi (17), as she plans to go to Torchbearers International in Costa Rica for a year of discipleship after she graduates. She leaves in August!

  • Pray for Isaac (14, Grade 9) in Public High School in Nipawin. He is also coaching kids in gymnastics.

  • Pray for Kora (19). She is working at IGA grocery store and renting an apartment in Nipawin. She is seeking the Holy Spirit’s leading for her next steps.

  • Our Ministry team and church are seeking the Lord for His plans in the coming months.

  • Wisdom as we move forward in discipleship of young believers.

  • Pray that God will continue to provide for our finances. Our monthly support has dropped a lot over the past few years and we need to raise about $1,000/month to bring our income back to what we need. Our God will provide.
